Summary
The Sales Student Intern is actively pursuing a degree (or a recent graduate) in a sales/business-related field and is responsible for contributing to the execution of the sales strategy that supports the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization.
The incumbent will take advantage of opportunities to gain an understanding of the basic responsibilities of the sales function and will contribute to the organization through the successful and timely completion of assigned projects and tasks. The incumbent will relate and apply knowledge acquired in the academic setting to contribute to the company’s success in achieving its sales objectives.
Responsibilities
• Take the initiative to develop a basic understanding of our company’s sales and business needs. Seeks assistance, as necessary with unfamiliar situations.
• Relate and apply knowledge acquired in the academic setting to contribute to the company’s success in achieving its sales/business objectives.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with company managers, supervisors, employees, and the sales function’s internal and external customers.
• Complete projects and tasks in a timely manner to support the achievement of the overall company business objectives.
• Assist in the implementation of sales efforts that effectively support the company’s strategic vision, mission, and corporate values.
• Serves as a liaison between the sales and marketing departments in communicating to customers of new promotions, and various other marketing and sales campaigns.
• Review all open quotes from house and resale accounts.
• Conduct outgoing follow up phone calls to follow up with customers on potential sales and future needs.
• Create opportunities to inform current and future customers of the company’s product offerings.
• May assist in partnering with inside and outside sales staff to identify and pursue new business opportunities with existing or potential new customers.
• May assist in responding to customer’s requests for quotes by entering the necessary information into the quoting system and responding in a timely manner.
• May assist in tracking orders, communicating with internal company resources and the customer regarding the status of orders and the need for any changes, and effectively serves as a liaison to develop solutions to any order processing issues. Seeks assistance, as necessary, to resolve more complex issues in an effective manner.
• Develops effective relationships with appropriate internal company resources to be able to assist in being a liaison in effectively serving our existing customers and pursuing new business opportunities.
Requirements
• Is actively pursuing an associate’s, bachelor’s or higher-level degree or is a recent graduate in a sales/business-related field.
• Through related experience has demonstrated the skills and ability to be an effective Sales Intern with the company.
• Has a strong customer orientation and is able to effectively communicate, build relationships, present ideas, and lead people to meet customer needs and achieve company objectives.
• Has excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
• Has excellent computer skills and is proficient with all related company systems and programs. Able to pick up on new systems quickly.
• Has strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective time management skills in prioritizing and addressing multiple and at times conflicting demands.
• High energy with a sense of urgency in responding to customer needs.
• High level of personal and professional integrity.
