Test Technician (Morton Grove IL)

John Crane has an exciting career opportunity in Morton Grove IL. We currently have a need for a Tech Technician who assembles and performs a variety of mechanical tests, experiments or studies of gas seal products or the materials used in gas seal products. Is responsible for contributing to the analysis of tests through their complete cycles as well as final results and, by these observations, making recommendations to Engineers for modifications to improve final product.

• Assembly of production and prototype of gas seals.
• Setting up and operating all testing equipment used for engineering, research and development projects.
• Executing specific test requirements as specified by Engineering.
• Must be capable of analyzing functions and difficulties which may have a bearing on final results of the product being tested.
• Correcting malfunctions of test equipment or directing authorized personnel to do so.
• May go into the field to examine customer's problem on job site and confer with customer's representatives.
• May develop more complicated or more suitable testing equipment or develop new ways and means of conducting a variety of experiments or studies.
• Performs the detail or routine portions of research projects under coordinated direction of an Engineer.
• May advise, direct or train other technicians in carrying out details involved with tests on experiments.
• Performs tests or studies on competitive products and makes analysis of same.
• Contacts other departments to obtain and coordinate data.
• Complete test reports using computer and digital imaging equipment as well as creating spreadsheets, trends, and graphs.
• Coordinates all shop floor activities with the Manager, Assembly and Test to ensure support is available as required, resources are appropriately utilized and, at all times, an efficient and safe work environment is maintained.
• Under the direction of the Manager, engineering, performs related work as assigned including the assembly and testing of standard production gas seals, when not otherwise tasked with Engineering activities
• Any other duties as assigned.

• Requires a Technical Associate's Degree or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience related to assembly and testing.
• Read and interpret General Arrangement, Detailed, and Process and Instrumentation Drawings
• Must possess initiative, ingenuity, positive attitude, good technical knowledge, and sound engineering judgment.
