Position Purpose:

Key Responsibilities
Development and Coordination of Education Programs · Oversees Learning Management System to maintain nurse competencies, providing recommendations when needed · Responsible for development and oversight of Preceptor Development and New Graduate Residency program · Responsible for the planning, oversight, implementation, and evaluation of education initiatives, program compliance, and assessing educational needs of nursing staff · Utilizes Learning Management System to ensure regulatory compliance and to assess and accommodate educational needs of new and experienced nursing staff including role-based competencies and ongoing education · Develops educational programs to meet broad nursing needs and institutional patient care objectives. · Develops a systematic plan for program presentation · Facilitates the implementation of learning programs · Evaluates programs in terms of both individual and organizational performance · Monitors employee seminar activities · Serves as liaison for MCC and NAU Nursing students · Plans and executes education projects as assigned, within a specific timeframe · Administers and monitors POC glucose monitoring competency for clinical staff including Medical Assistants through RALS system
Development and Coordination of Nursing Orientation · Organizes and facilitates Nursing Orientation for all levels of nursing staff, ensuring documentation of competencies are provided to department directors and Human Resources · Re-assess Nursing Orientation quarterly to communicate updates to hospital processes, regulatory requirements and quality standards · Communicate and emphasize importance of: 1. Regulatory Compliance 2. Value-Based Purchasing 3. Patient satisfaction and safety behaviors such as hourly rounding, bedside shift report, fall prevention activities, Suicide precautions, Sepsis, and other patient safety regulatory initiatives
Certification Programs · Coordinates all BLS and ACLS courses · Maintains all records required for KRMC to operate as an American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center and providing oversight. · Submits all paperwork required to remain as a center for granting CEs from ANCC
Professional Growth · Continued professional growth by attending in-services, seminars, workshops and reading professional journals
Provision of Care-Clinical Practice · Nurse Planner Designations (if appointed by management) a) Primary Nurse Planner i. The Primary Nurse Planner must be a registered nurse with at least a master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) ii. The Primary Nurse Planner must have education or experience in the field of education or adult learning iii. The responsibilities of the Primary Nurse Planner are important to the development of continuing education units. The nurse planner ensures that all clinical objectives are being fulfilled iv. The Primary Nurse Planner will work closely with each individual hospital unit to ensure that all educational needs are being identified and met through various education programs. This position will be responsible for all education programs that have CEU, hours by tracking the completion of these activities including evaluations v. The Primary Nurse Planner has an obligation to adhere to American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) Accreditation Standards and Guidelines vi. The Primary Nurse Planner will be a member of the planning committee. He/she will communicate feedback and recommendations regarding each program throughout the planning process vii. The Primary Nurse Planner will be responsible for planning, implementing, recording, evaluating, and storing all documents related to educational activities
b) Nurse Planner i. The Nurse Planner will be a registered nurse with at least a bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) ii. The Nurse Planner will work closely with the Primary Nurse Planner to plan, implement and evaluate education programs iii. The Nurse Planner will assist the Primary Nurse Planner to identify educational needs within the hospital iv. The Nurse Planner will assist in the process of tracking and evaluating all continuing education (CEU) courses provided v. The Nurse Planner position will request feedback from hospital professionals regarding needed education programs vi. The Nurse Planner has an obligation to adhere to ANCC Accreditation Standards and Guidelines |
Qualifications
Experience: 1. Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse 2. Leading projects and designing educational materials 3. Nursing Education experience Education: Bachelors’ degree in Nursing or related field Certification/Licensure: Current Arizona RN License |
Preferences
Experience: Managing or supervising clinical staff Education: Masters’ degree in Nursing or related field |
