Position Summary:
Provide excellent customer service by acknowledging customers as they enter and exit the store, answering questions and assisting with deactivation of electronic article surveillance devices. Additionally, perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.
Essential Job Functions:
- Model “Customer 1st” behavior; deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service
- Acknowledge customers in a friendly manner as they enter and exit the store
- Maneuver in the store’s entry and exit areas
- Politely ask customers to see their receipt for non-bagged items and direct customers to registers when non-bagged items are observed
- Respond to activations of Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systems
- Assist customers with deactivation of EAS devices
- Answer customer questions concerning the location of items or sections within the store
- Direct communication with the district Asset Protection (AP) manager/district AP specialists to report suspicious behavior
- Report incidents on the Kroger Loss Prevention Monitoring System (KLPMS)
- Review closed-circuit television (CCTV) and report any incidents to district AP manager
- Perform random associate parcel/receipt check
- Assist customers with bascarts that may lock up with Purcheck
- Report safety concerns to supervisor
- Comply with corporate policies and promote/follow company initiatives
- Maintain flexibility to work any shift
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
Minimum Position Qualifications/Education:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or combination of relevant education and experience
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Ability to pass drug test
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle sensitive information while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality
- Accuracy/attention to detail
- Ability to work within rigid timeframes and meet resolute deadlines
Desired Previous Job Experience:
- Knowledge of Kroger policies, procedures, and organizational structure
- Ability to speak a second language
