LaForce has an opening for a 2nd Shift Painter.
$21/hour with shift differential
Hours: Monday – Thursday 3:30 PM – 1:45 AM
The Painter is responsible for the movement of materials (frames, doors, components, etc) in and out of the glazing and painting area, glazing hollow metal door frames, pre-paint prep & painting.
Major Responsibilities
- Identifying and obtaining pertinent information from shop orders, shop drawings and frames regarding glazing and painting requirements.
- Set up and operation of airless paint spray systems and pressure-pot paint spray systems to apply prime coat paint, top coat paints and back paints. Work with solvents, cleaners, paints and coatings.
- Applying glazing bead as specified to HM frames – the bead is a metal channel that is screwed to the frames with a powered screw driver and typically self-drilling screws.
- Set up and operation of various bench and hand power tools including DA sanders, bench and hand grinders, cut off saws, screw guns, etc.
- Safe operation of stand up and traditional fork lifts for movement of materials.
- Housekeeping in painting and glazing areas. Maintain operating supplies for painting/glazing areas (respirator filters, paint tips, filters, paint & solvents, etc.)
- Assisting in warehouse operations, as needed, including truck loading/unloading, inventory management and customer service.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and one to three months of related experience and/or training preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Forklift Safe Operation Certificate is required through internal training
- Willingness to learn and take initiative
Physical Demands
- Employee is required to continuously stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform low level activity
- The employee is required to frequently use hands to lift up to 50# Floor to 68”, carry up to 50#, and push/pull up to 50# force.
- The employee is required to occasionally sit, climb or balance (in and out of fork lift), talk or hear, grip up to 75# Force and climb/balance or step up 19”
