Overview
Responsible for leading a team of 30-40 team members focused on safety, quality, customer focus, cost and employee engagement. Additionally, ensures lean operations through effective implementation of 5S principles of the department within the Florence Distribution Center.
Job Responsibilities:
- Achieve benchmark status in Total Incident Rate (TIR) in department
- Ensure safe and productive plant operations through employee training and resolution of safety issues
- Visibly leads the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the site’s safety and health activities.
- Continually evaluating department to ensure we are meeting safety requirements and coach and encourage safe behaviors
- Lead department to achieve 100% of its quality objectives to ensure customer satisfaction
- Ensure quality through employee training and involvement
- Apply quality principles such as 8D problem solving to implement countermeasures to ongoing quality errors
- Achieve 100% of fill-rate performance targets
- Drive lead time reductions to improve customer satisfaction
- Ensure inventory accuracy through effective 5S implementation
- Manage annual operating plan (AOP) for the department/shift
- Proactively identify cost reduction strategies and participation in the development of the capital spend
- Effectively manage labor and burden budget of department
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve productivity improvements including achieving daily productivity targets, continuous improvement projects, system and facility improvements, and new tools and equipment
- Create an environment where each team member feels their contributions are making an impact through team member involvement, team building and relationship building
- Utilize team member survey results to develop plans to improve employee engagement
- Create environment where team members feel enabled and empowered by offering opportunities for them to learn, develop and grow
- Partner with Human Resources to create positive culture and ensure compliance with all company policies
JOB REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree with (2) or more years’ relevant experience leading others or High school diploma with five (5) or more years’ relevant experience leading others
- Experience in WMS systems required
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
- Experience in lean principles, 5S, six-sigma, Kaizen or TPS preferred
- Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills in motivating, problem solving, counseling, evaluating, and training team members
This position is eligible for Meritor’s Incentive Compensation Plan, which offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
