Participates in interdisciplinary performance improvement activities.
Participates in established departmental and hospital quality improvement efforts and quality assurance standards.
Develops and maintains relationships with Nursing Units, Physicians, Physician offices, and when appropriate, other health care agencies and community service agencies to enhance the continuity of patient care services.

Answers incoming telephone calls promptly and exercises excellent customer service skills on the telephone.
Performs general clerical duties, such as typing, copying, filing and including computer entry.
Assists the professional staff with unit organization and clerical support.
Maintains a clean and orderly nursing station.

Maintains patient rights and confidentiality.
Assists with nursing functions when needed. Assignments to include one on one patient monitoring and patient transporting.
Is responsible for delivery of specimens (i.e. urine, stool, sputum, blood, etc.) using standard precautions.
D emonstrates competency in Infection Prevention and Control Practices and Policies:
Possesses an understanding of infection prevention and control measures designed to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
Maintains the standards of the infection prevention and control policies.
Implements and maintains isolation techniques per policy.
Follows hand hygiene policies and utilizes personal protective equipment as required.

PCT: MMH PCT/CNA/EMT/LPN Certification
Equivalent Experience: New hires or transfer after 2/1/2023 must hold an internal MyMichigan Health Patient Care Technician certification or a current State of Michigan registry document as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or completion of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification culminating in licensure in the state of Michigan or completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program culminating in licensure in the State of Michigan, successful completion of one semester of nursing clinical education by an Accredited Registered Nurse Program, or a Medical Assistant with the following: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologist (AMT), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), OR equivalent Medical Assistant Credential such as Certified Clinical Medical Assistant CCMA, etc.*For current PCTs with an expired CNA certification, EMT certification, or a lapsed LPN license, an opportunity to achieve an internal MyMichigan Health Patient Care Technician certification will be offered*
Education: High School diploma

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS
Knowledge of medical terminology required (course work or experience).
Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must also be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
C omputer and word processing experience preferred.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Light. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 11-20 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.
