Job Description
1. Develop synthesis schemes, complete the synthesis of natural products and analogs, develop grant proposals, prepare manuscripts, and provide presentations. Assist in mentoring graduate students, visiting scholar and postdoctoral fellows. Generation of data and the publication of results in peer-reviewed journals several times each year. 35%
2. This individual will serve as a liaison to work collaboratively with other investigators to achieve the goal of making and optimizing natural product drug leads for translational, preclinical and clinical studies. Serve as the liaison between basic science and clinical researchers at MUSC interested in natural products development as therapeutics and will present results in group meetings made up of both basic and clinical investigators with the goal of advancing new molecules into clinical studies. This investigator must be personable and collaborative and committed to both their own career development as well as their students and trainees. 35%
3. Responsible for the operation, maintenance and trouble-shoot NMR and MS instruments. 10%
4. Participates in continuous improvement of the science curriculum at the College of Pharmacy and Medicine. Scholarly responsibilities include the development of an independent and active research program in the synthesis of natural products yielding regular publications, professional presentations, and external grant proposals. 20%
