responsibilities:
- Communicating the goals of the company to all engineers and applicable professionals in the team.
- Supervising every phase of the project from start to completion.
- Oversee the development of military switch-mode power supplies using applicable topologies and strategies throughout the complete lifecycle of the project
- Contribute with oversight of requirement analysis, prototyping, development, and qualification of military power supplies.
- Create designs using tools such as PADS, MATLAB and SPICE.
- Assist design department with mechanical and electrical layouts of power supplies.
- Troubleshoot prototype hardware on the bench, and oversee all aspects of the project, both mechanical and electrical.
- Provide technical oversight, supporting test department during production.
- Assist with budgets including calculating costs, material, labor, and time required for each project.
- Approving team designs and project budgets.
- Delegating tasks to engineering teams.
- Supervising staff training as well as equipment installation.
- Performing quality control checks on all systems and products.
- Foster a collaborative team environment and quickly resolve any disputes between staff.
- Acknowledging or rewarding good work.
- Analyzing data and drafting reports for review.
- The ability to work onsite and in the office.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required. Master's Degree preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience preferred with 4 years of leading engineering teams
- Design experience including switching supply topologies, magnetics design, PCB layout and familiarity with military specifications.
- Familiarity with MIL Specs are a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project) and Adobe required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electronic power design, devices, control loop theory, thermal management, custom magnetic design, PWB layout.
- Practical hands-on experience including AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion with various topologies and with MIL-SPEC / MIL-STD requirements is preferred.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills as well as the ability to lead a team of technicians to complete multiple projects.
- A sound understanding of engineering principles.
- The ability to maintain a positive attitude and restore morale to a team.
- The ability to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to process negative feedback and remain professional.
