Volunteer Job Descriptions
Bingo Volunteer Duties:
- Escort residents to and from Bingo
- Assist residents during Bingo games
- Assist in the set-up and clean-up
- Call Bingo games when regular caller is not available
Book Club Duties:
- Assist with set-up and clean-up
- Facilitate or assist with monthly book club meeting
- Serve residents coffee
Craft Leader Duties:
- To provide a creative outlet for residents and to maintain fine motor skills
- Assist or lead with simple craft projects with the residents
- Meet with the Volunteer Coordinator/Liaison to discuss ideas
- Assist with set-up and clean-up
- Escort residents to and from craft program
Book Cart Attendant Purpose:
- To provide the residents an opportunity to get books and magazines
- Take cart to each neighborhood so residents have an opportunity to get books and magazines
- Track books as they go out
- Maintain inventory of books and magazines
- Assist residents in picking out different books and magazines
- Once a week; time and day are flexible, but need to be kept consistent week to week
Mending Leader Duties:
- Converse and interact with residents while sewing/mending
- Perform small mending jobs such as sewing hems, buttons, etc.

Life-Long Learning Duties:
- Escort residents to and from Life-Long Learning program
- Serve residents when food is a part of the program
- Assist Activity staff during program
- Mondays 10:00AM — 12:00PM
Men’s Group Leader Duties:
- To implement an activity for male residents
- Meet with Volunteer Coordinator/Liaison to plan and organize the program topics for the male residents
- Assist in collecting the necessary supplies for the activity
- Assist the participants to and from the activity
- Meet twice a month. Day and time is flexible, but must remain consistent from month to month
- Program Ideas:
- Automobiles, Poker, Sports, Sports Trivia, Politics/Current Events or any other area of interest or knowledge you can share with the male residents
One-to-One Friendship Duties:
- To provide one-to-one conversations with residents. You will be matched with one resident at a time to develop a relationship. You will receive a brief overview of the resident and training for one-to-one visiting.
- Provide social interaction with residents
- Converse with the resident— learning about their past and sharing stories
- Escort resident outside on nice days if the resident has indicated an interest in being outdoors
- Once a week or as scheduled with the Volunteer Coordinator/Liaison
Party Host Duties:
- Assist in decorating for the special event/party
- Assist with clean-up after the special event/party
- Escort residents to and from the special event/party
- Assist in serving food and drink during the event
- Birthday parties for residents are on the third Wednesday of each month
- Special events scheduled each month (various times and dates)
- Programs needing a host include:
- Birthday parties
- Special Events
- Sunday Afternoon Entertainment
Readers Duties:
- To read to residents who have a past interest in reading, but are no longer able to read
- Converse with residents about past interest of reading
- Obtain books through the Volunteer Coordinator/Liaison that are appropriate to read
- Spend time with the resident reading the literature they would like to hear
- Times are flexible, but need to be kept consistent from week to week.
