Our Midwest Division is looking for a Commissioning Technician to act as customer’s advocate during construction of their building and provide MEP building design services. This position reports to the Commissioning Manager and requires the capability to support, organize, plan and complete daily commissioning activities on multiple projects. The ability to work independently and complete tasks on time are requirements for this position. The role of a Commissioning Technician is to learn SitelogIQ’s commissioning processes and support the commissioning team to ensure that the systems are designed, installed, started, tested, and documented to meet the design intent.
Commissioning Technician Responsibilities:
- Assist in review of design drawings and specifications for MEP systems and provide feedback
- Generate and update Commissioning Plan on each project
- Assist in review of project submittals and provide feedback
- Attend Commissioning Kick Off Meetings
- Learn and assist with project setup in commissioning software
- Create functional performance tests for equipment
- Conduct functional testing of equipment by the installing contractor
- Document and manage functional testing issue logs
- Create Final Commissioning Reports on each project
- Demonstrate professionalism and working with team members, fellow employees, clients, consultants, and contractors
- Complete assigned tasks in a timely and logical manner while exercising discretion and good judgment
- Maintain positive work relationship with clients, fellow employees, and project team
- Provide clear written and verbal communications
- Read and comprehend construction documents material
- Attend meetings and provide input to coordinate and complete assigned tasks
- Follow schedules provided by Manager and Project Team
- Adjust work habits to accommodate a variety of office and field tasks
- Be flexible to work outside of normal business hours when asked or when project requires
Commissioning Technician Qualifications:
- High School degree or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification preferred
- Minimum of two years’ experience in commercial building HVAC and controls systems such as: Niagara, Johnson Controls, Alerton, Delta, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Honeywell or similar
- Willingness to learn and adapt to change
- Team relationship skills with ability to function independently and without daily supervision
- Understanding of overall design intent for HVAC Systems and the construction process, operation of building automation systems, and basic knowledge of construction
- Understanding of construction safety standards preferred
- Ability to effectively implement commissioning procedures on construction projects using both written and verbal skills
- Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling and project management software
- Industry certifications preferred
- Valid driver’s license
- Must be willing to travel throughout the Midwest, up to 50%
