Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):
Community Service Officers aid Public Safety Officers in their duties by assisting with building lock-ups, campus transportation, and vehicle assists.
Transferable Skills:
Communication, teamwork, emergency preparedness.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Building Access and Security – CSOs will unlock and lock classrooms as scheduled, clearing each building of all students and visitors and securing all interior and exterior doors of each building at the designated closing time.
• Safe Walk Transports – CSOs will provide walking escorts for students concerned about personal safety on campus.
• Parking Assistance – CSOs will provide a timely response to visitors requesting parking passes in the Buntrock lot.
• Community Development – CSOs will promote positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and visitors at all times. This will be achieved by treating others with dignity, courtesy, respect, and concern. CSOs will be expected to enforce building and college policies fairly and consistently.
Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)
• Clean campus conduct record.
• Successful completion of provided training program.
• Successful completion of a background check which may include: criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications.
• Effective verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be dependable and responsible.
• Ability to work effectively during scheduled hours.
• Ability to handle and safeguard confidential information.
