Mail Processing DriverPart-Time | Non-PermanentMonday 3am - 11:30pm | Tuesday - Friday 3am - 8amUnion Represented | WFSE**This position will earn an additional $2.50/hour shift differential pay on top of the hourly rate.** About this positionThis non-permanent job is expected to last 6 months.This position reports to the CMS Sortation Supervisor to deliver exceptional mail services; reduce the overall cost of government; and set a standard for continuous improvement. The duties and responsibilities of this position play an important part in achieving the goals of DES, by requiring the employee to understand the needs of our customers, be proactive in customer service and to perform the essential functions of this position. Some of the duties include sorting, metering, and shipping activities, work in conjunction with the Sortation Team to achieve mail quality control and operating a light to medium duty commercial class vehicles rated 2000 GVW to 25,000GVW on an as needed basis.About the DivisionThe Business Resources Division (BRD) within the Department of Enterprise Services (DES) provides a number of services to state agencies, local governments, and non-profit organizations. Some of what you will enjoy doingSort incoming and campus letters, flats and parcels according to the designated PO box/MailstopStart-up and understands all computer systems necessary to run Incoming and Campus MailOperates computerized OCR/BCR sorter or Pitney Bowes metering and mail manifesting systemsIndependently performs mail sorting activitiesEnsures the mail flow process is accurate and performed in a timely mannerWorks in conjunction with the Sortation Team to achieve mail quality controlAdheres to all current documented quality control proceduresFrequently checks mail for correct sort and dispatch

Work is performed in a warehouse/mail processing environment. Sit and/or stand for prolonged periods in addition to working in noisy conditions without loss of concentration. Regular lifting of mail trays, tubs and/or packages weighing up to 70 lbs. On occasions, must be able to safely operate light to medium duty commercial class vehicles rated 2000 GVE to 25,5000 GVW.Work ScheduleMonday 3am – 11:30pm | Tuesday – Friday 3am – 8amCustomer InteractionDaily contact with internal and external customers. Interpersonal skills are required to ensure a positive and professional interaction. Answer questions about services and provide accurate information. Interactions must be timely in order not to disturb customers workflow. Must be able to defuse customer concerns or assist them in contacting CMS staff who can promptly resolve problems. Travel requirements | NoneOther | Personal hygiene must be maintained as state facilities are fragrance free.Position Critical InformationThis position is recognized as a Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP). This means that during a recognized emergency, duties may differ from normal duties and would be temporary, lasting only as long as necessary to resume normal operations.
