Position Summary/Objective:
An Associate Technical Documentation Writer is responsible for producing product-related technical documents (e.g., user manuals, protocols, certificates of analysis, technical notes, and scientific posters) that are clear, logical, and follow the company style guide. They are also responsible for maintaining the accuracy and organization of technical documents and information on our website and internal databases, as well as implementing improvements.
An Associate Technical Documentation Writer must demonstrate strong writing skills and will work closely with a more senior member of the Technical Communications team, receiving guidance on project management, documentation formatting and layout, and review processes. The position requires strong time-management skills, excellent verbal and written communication abilities, and fine attention to detail.
The Associate Technical Documentation Writer role is an on-site role located in San Jose, CA.
Essential Functions:
Write easy-to-understand user manuals, protocols, and certificates of analysis that are clear and conform to departmental work instructions.
Produce high-quality documentation that meets the quality needs of our customers, and implement on-time document change requests.
Work with the technical documentation team to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product to be launched and the documentation requirements.
Review technical pieces written by other writers or employees and provide clear suggested edits.
Ensure that documents and information are correctly posted on our website and internal databases so that they are easy to locate.
Create and maintain work instructions, style guide, and other reference materials for the writing team.
Receive feedback from internal sources including technical support and adjust technical materials to better suit customer needs.
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
Education/Certification, Experience, and Competencies:
Master’s degree or PhD in Molecular Biology or other life science.
Technical writing experience at a life science company or organization (optional but considered favorably).
Laboratory work in Molecular Biology or other life science (optional but considered favorably).
Good organizational, project management, and time management skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
