Position Summary:
The Finance and Accounting Intern works closely with the Controller, Treasurer and CFO and is responsible for assisting the department with activities related to various accounting and finance projects, accounts payable processing and vendor file maintenance, assisting with research and reporting related to daily and monthly reconciliations and compiling detailed journal entry support.
Responsibilities:
- Participating in hands-on training with Finance Department personnel necessary to accomplish tasks assigned.
- Conduct financial analysis studies to analyze results and trends to identify reasons for results and opportunities for improvement.
- Understanding general accounting principles and concepts.
- Preparing State and other regulatory reporting.
- Various aspects of accounts payable processing utilizing the Banktel system.
- Analyzing data for appropriate general ledger allocation based on set guidelines.
- Preparing journal entry support utilizing Excel pivot tables and v-lookup functions.
- Monitoring and verifying borrowing base reports.
Required Qualifications:
- Major in business administration, finance, or accounting.
- Will possess 9-12 hours of accounting college credit hours with a B or better upon graduation.
- Above average to strong skills in Microsoft Office products especially Microsoft Excel.
- Strong personal motivation and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline driven environment.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
