The Jackson Laboratory is seeking an IT Sourcing and Vendor Manager. Reporting to the Director, Procurement and Supply Chain, you'll have the opportunity to be a strategic partner that continually assesses business needs, the technology vendor market and incumbent vendor performance to determine the best options and sources of technology supply for the organization as well as collaborate with key stakeholders in IT, Finance and Legal to execute & manage IT contracts.

A successful candidate must be an effective change agent, working with senior leadership within the business and IT teams to drive enduring changes to how JAX sources technology and manages technology vendors and contracts. In this role, the individual will regularly interact with key IT, research and business leaders to balance cost, risk, and speed to ensure that JAX is able to realize its objectives. The skills to influence and drive change, combined with the drive to deliver results per the goals set, will enable the Sourcing Manager - IT to support the rapid evolution of digital business at JAX.

Prior experience in IT, business strategy, business analysis, or finance is highly desired.

An on-site presence in Farmington, CT is expected 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

Operate the technology sourcing, vendor & contract management function in collaboration with key business, research, IT, Finance and Legal stakeholders:

  • Participate & advise in IT governance in-take process.
  • Understand & manage business partner & stakeholder needs including requirements definition & usage alignment.
  • Define technology sourcing and vendor & contract management strategies for IT products, services, solutions and digital platforms aligned to business unit objectives and priorities
  • Working closely with stakeholders to lead major sourcing programs and negotiations, including collaborative relationships with IT teams and overall project management.
  • Partnering with key stakeholders to develop and lead a high-performance matrix team that collaboratively supports all technology supplier-related functions. Including but not limited to:
    • Managing technology contracts for new and existing business needs
    • Assisting the acquisition & management of a contract lifecycle management (CLM) platform
  • Developing and operationalizing an IT vendor management framework communicates and manages vendor performance, value, criticality, and risk.
  • Design & monitor the performance of the technology sourcing, vendor & contract management function and engage in continuous improvement.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends that have an impact on the technology sourcing strategy, through external advisory services, internal vendor management teams and good working relationships with existing and emerging strategic vendors used by the enterprise.
  • Present pertinent supplier and/or industry trends to stakeholders and immediate management and propose updates and improvements to existing strategies.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology or related field
  • 3 years in one or more of the following areas: technology sourcing, procurement, vendor management, contract management.
  • Purchasing and Supply Chain Certification from the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) or the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence teams. Must be able to manage a diverse, cross-functional work group, motivate them, and maximize productivity.
  • Strong ability to translate stakeholder requirements into technology sourcing practices and business outcomes.
  • Sufficient interpersonal relationship skills to effectively lead others, develop consensus among those holding disparate opinions and work effectively with individuals and groupsof people representing a diversity of levels and degrees of sophistication.
  • Comfortable in addressing strategic supplier relationships and developing strategies that look to reduce overall cost or risk. Experience in leading key technology negotiations.
  • Knowledge of the sources of data and analytics to support the development and execution of sourcing strategies.
  • Knowledgeable in financial analysis, strategy formation, and business case development.
  • Knowledge and experience of CLM & vendor management platforms is highly desirable.

The Salary Range is $73,305 - $122,730. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
