Salary
Salary Range: $50,000- $58,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Hours per Week
Exempt Position: 40 hours per week.

Essential Functions
Function: Directly assists the Senior Director of International Services and Vice Provost for Global Initiatives with the initiation, development, and documentation of institutional relationships and academic initiatives with foreign universities, institutes, and government entities.

Scope: Coordinates and arranges the protocol required by activities with international visitors and related events. Accomplishes special projects related to international initiatives as assigned by the Senior Director of International Services, and/or the Vice Provost for Global Initiatives.

Typical Duties:
  • Works directly with the Vice Provost for Global Initiatives, campus leadership, Legal Affairs, international faculty champions and the campus community.
  • Contributes to all aspects of supporting collaborative relationships and authorized official.
  • Supports the Vice Provost for Global Initiatives to identify and cultivate new collaborations and business opportunities.
  • Supports inbound and outbound delegations.
  • Writes speeches, letters and communications for the Vice Provost.
  • Initiates, facilitates, and conducts ongoing collaborative relationships and authorized official communication with partner international institutions and government entities.
  • Directly supports the development of meaningful and substantive international agreements, and then tracks their progress with partner institutions, while working alongside Senior Director, International Services and Vice Provost for Global Initiatives.
  • Works closely with the colleges, departments, institutes, centers, and faculty to administratively advise and assist them in the initiation, development, and approval of international agreements and program initiatives with foreign institutions and government entities.
  • Collaborates directly and closely with the Office of Legal Affairs to support the preparation of draft international agreements, to include coordinating the provision of needed information and documentation from the academic departments.
  • Researches funding opportunities and seeks the ongoing acquisition of grant funding to directly support University international initiatives.
  • Accepts, documents and administratively works a wide variety of international related requests and referrals received from foreign university offices, colleges, and departments, referring those requests which require review and decision by the Senior Director, and/or the Vice Provost for International Initiatives.
  • Serves as a point-of-contact and coordinator for visits from international visitors.
  • Accomplishes the protocol details for meeting arrangements, activities, and social events for international visitors to the Senior Director of International Services and the Office of the Provost.
  • Accomplishes the successful University completion of the annual UT System International Travel Survey.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Periodic:
  • Represents UTSA and the Vice Provost for Global Initiatives at city, state, national, and international associations/consortia and events.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
  • Three years of progressively responsible administrative and project officer program experience in the university setting, to include experience managing multiple processes while developing or revising administrative policies and procedures to meet the organizational goals and mission.
  • Experience in public speaking.
  • Bilingual in the languages of English and Spanish, with the ability to speak, read, and write at a high level of professional competence in both languages.
  • Technological expertise, including use of MS Windows, MS Office, and web-based applications. General office equipment.
  • The ability to multi-task, work and lead in a fast paced professional business environment.
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to lead and work with individuals and groups in a professional, facilitative way. Excellent intercultural communication skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to problem solve and prioritize effectively.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree.
  • Prior experience in the management of related programs and initiatives in a University setting.
  • Experience in the management/administration of higher education programs in a University setting.
  • The demonstrated ability to maximize/leverage technology to further advance programmatic goals in the work setting. Experience in working with computer based databases, such as MS Excel.

Working Conditions
This position will be primarily located:

Hybrid-Regularly: This position will require working both remotely and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
