Salary Range: $19.70 -$21.53
Schedule: Tuesday- Saturday 8:30 am.-5:00 pm
JOB SUMMARY
The Relative Home Assessment Services (RHAS) Specialist is directly responsible to the Relative Home Assessment Services Supervisor and shall directly deliver services to the referred Relative/Non Relative Resource Family Applicants. This position will have a Quality Assurance function.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Travels through the Service Provider Area as needed to provide the delivery of RHAS contract services to referred Relative/Non Relative Resource Family Applicants.
- Contacts the Relative/Non Relative Resource Family Applicants and initiate RHAS contract services within five calendar days of each DCFS RHAS Referral assigned.
- Notifies the RHAS Supervisor if repeated attempts, (three attempts per day for five consecutive days) to contact Relative/Non Relative Resource Family Applicants has failed.
- Makes additional appointments and return to the home of Relative/Non Relative Resource Family Applicants as needed to perform RHAS components.
- Provides feedback and documentation of Relative Home Assessment Services including but not limited to Form RFA-03 (A), Exhibit A-8, Resource Family Home Environment Checklist or Form RFA-03 (B0, Exhibit A-9, Resource Family Home Environment Checklist Annual Update to the case-carrying DCFS County Social Worker within 45 days following the RHAS Referral unless otherwise instructed by the RHAS Supervisor.
- Provides Relative/Non Relative Resource Family Applicants with an overview of the child welfare processes and information resources.
- Conducts a home environment assessment and completes the required Resource Family Home Environment Checklist. Develops a Corrective Action Plan or RFA Applicant, Home Environment Documented Alternative Plan as needed.
- Arranges purchase, delivery and set-up for furnishings, supplies and services that will enable the Applicant Home to become RFA Program compliant, as needed per the developed Resource Family Evaluation Corrective Action Plan and/or RFA Applicant Home Environment Alternative Plan. Utilizes the Relative Caregiver Emergency Fund as needed and in accordance with policy
- Assists the Relative/Non Relative Resource Family Applicants with documents retrieval critical to the RFA process.
- Conducts a Relative Support Services assessment and refer the Relative/Non Relative Resource Family Applicants to the appropriate Relative Support Services Agency.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Completion of a Bachelors’ Degree Social Work, Psychology, Social Services or a closely related field of behavioral science from an accredited educational institution.
- Must have one year of professional experience in the field of social work, behavioral science or social services.
- Must attend and successfully complete the County provided Relative Home Assessment Services Training prior to working with DCFS clients.
POSITION/PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a valid California driver’s license, personal automobile insurance and driving record that meets the standards outlined in the Agency’s Personnel Policy: Motor Vehicle Operating Standards.
- Must be physically and mentally fit to work with potentially violent, severely emotionally disturbed youth in accordance with the Agency’s Personnel Policy: Physical Fitness Standards and Examinations. Must have the unrestricted capacity to employ physical restraint techniques in a professionally safe manner. Must be willing to complete a health screening physical examination that includes a Tuberculosis (TB) test, drug screening test and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination(s).
- Must be willing to complete a personal background investigation conducted by the State of California.
- Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Have an adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in a residential, office or outdoor environment including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), alternating between standing and sitting for extended periods of time, bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching balancing and occasional carrying and lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and up to 10 pounds frequently.
- Physically able to walk up and down stairs routinely.
- Physically able to perform CPR and First Aid as trained.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time in the office or in a vehicle for traveling to fieldtrips, outings, or attending meetings when necessary. Some trips may be over 100 miles in driving distance.
- Requires the ability to utilize computer and telephone systems, which includes the coordination of eye and hand and fine manipulation by the hands and fingers for typing, writing and working with files.
