Project Sales I - Lighting

The Project Sales I objective is to generate and expand profitable sales in project business for Viking Electric in a professional manner by preparing on-time, competitive and accurate quotes to customers. Responsible for overall coordination with the vendor, resource obligations of the sales force, and management initiatives to attain desired results.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design lighting for design build projects, applying discretion consistent with contract and owner requirements. As necessary, deviate or alter from specifics, plans, policy to fulfil project needs. Work with manufacturers and manufacturers’ representatives to quote and sell electrical products on these projects.
- Develop a thorough understanding of plans and specifications in order to prepare timely and accurate proposals for projects.
- Coordinate with management and account managers regarding bid proposal strategy and value-added service offering. This includes compiling and analyzing information from vendors, determining appropriate pricing, using discretion to maximize Viking profitability.
- Foster and maintain excellent working relationships with Viking customers and other parties involved in design work by calling on them and providing regular technical and project support.
- Oversee and manage all projects for profitability and take appropriate steps to ensure customer satisfaction. As necessary, negotiate on behalf of Viking to resolve all disputes associated with projects issues as they arise.
- Promote fair and honest dealings with suppliers. Manage vendor relationships to benefit Viking, our customers and suppliers.
- For secured jobs, coordinate and communicate detailed project needs to Project Manager to ensure smooth project turnover and timely service to the customer. Maintain engagement with Project Manager to facilitate dispute resolution. Work with the Project Manager to determine pricing on extra products and change orders and expediting fees.
- Analyze and relay technical data for customers, pre-sale and post-sale, regarding product selection and application, as well as product revisions post sale. Consult with sales team on the proper application of products. Serve as information center for technical information on lighting and distribution.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION:
- Four-year college degree in business or technical area preferred. Minimum associate degree or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years in the Electrical industry.
- Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, internet navigation, and Adobe.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Excellent organizational skills. Able to manage time effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with attention to detail Strong math aptitude and analytical skills
- Solid decision-making skills. Must be able to negotiate and problem-solve
- Ability to work with flexibility and adaptability to workplace situations/expectations
- Ability to work well independently and collaboratively across departments
- Effective Vendor Management skills
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires occasional travel and customer entertainment
- Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet deadlines
