Summary
Walker SCM is looking for an experienced HR Generalist for our operation in Toledo, Ohio. We are looking for the right person who shares our philosophy of Operational Excellence on a daily basis. Walker SCM's primary objective is to deliver the right part, to the right place, at the right time.
This position is to lead the local HR responsibilities and act as liaison between employee and management to answer questions or concerns regarding company policies, practices and regulations. Work with Operations Management team to process, provide guidance and to verify and maintain documentation relating to HR activities such as staffing, training, discipline etc. This position will report directly to the local on-site General Manager, with corporate HR as a directional resource.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for HR compliance with respect to ongoing employee training, assessments, and related documentation
- Develop programs to enhance morale and productivity of employees.
- Assist with worker's compensation, unemployment appeals, and employee relations as requested.
- Assist and advise managers regarding employee relations, employee coaching, performance management and involuntary termination decisions.
- Lead projects for HR initiatives
- Recruit and hire staff, including job postings, screening of applicants, creating hiring timelines, scheduling interviews, processing background checks/applicant profiles.
- Build data-driven recruiting and HR functionality including analytics that provide insight and decision support.
- Ensure adherence with all labor laws and Federal and State regulations
- Serve as an HR contact for employees. Answer questions regarding benefits, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee and administer reward and recognition programs.
- Disseminate established Corporate Human Resource policies and procedures with the partnership of executive management.
- Partner with Corporate HR and Operations management in compensation benchmarking and analyzing compensation that help with recruiting and retention.
- Ensure accurate completion of KPI data
- Plan and organize morale boosting activities including holiday parties, contests, raffles, etc
- Maintain company organization charts and employee directory.
- Administer surveys and compile data for the management team.
- Administer exit interviews, monitor findings, evaluate root problems, recommend changes and evaluate effectiveness.
- Assist in other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education / Experience
- 5 years of relevant work experience in the HR field (Required)
- Bachelor's (Preferred)
- US work authorization (Required)
- Proficiency with MS Office suite, especially strong Excel and Outlook and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
- HR Certification preferred (PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) but not required

- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact and build relationships within all levels of the organization
- Knowledge of current employment laws, HR procedures and best practices

Pay Range
