Primary Job Duties:
- Assess needs of students coming to the counseling center, moving them into appropriate pathways of support: counseling services on campus, appropriate referrals for students needing more specialized mental health services off campus, career, academic, or spiritual support.
- Provide direct services to students including counseling, evaluation, outreach, and consultation.
- Conduct weekly individual and group supervision/training to therapists in compliance with their educational and licensure requirements.
- Conduct crisis intervention services, consultation with relevant faculty and staff members, and appropriate follow-up support to at-risk students. Participate on the Critical Incident Response Team and the Student Care Team.
- Provide focused clinical training and mentoring to therapists, faculty, and staff members focused on promoting the health and wellness of university students.
- Lead the annual recruiting, interviewing, and selection of trainees.
- Provide or support periodic training for faculty and staff on topics related to the Counseling Center and mental health.
- Serve on Student Life committees as appropriate, including the Student Care Team and Behavioral Intervention Team.
- Provide consistent and effective communication to students, faculty, and staff concerning your area’s programs and services.
- Practice regular collaboration with faculty, staff, and students across program areas on both the Mt. Tabor and Centre 205 campuses.
- Be present in the office based on agreed-upon schedules unless arrangements are made with the employee’s direct supervisor.
- Contribute to the support and implementation of the University Strategic Plan.
- Participate in Warner Pacific University professional development opportunities.
- Adhere to University policies and procedures.

- Completion of a Master’s or Doctoral degree program in Counseling or Clinical Psychology.
- Licensed in the State of Oregon to provide direct services to a student population.
- Solid clinical competence in the evaluation and treatment of common issues facing university students, including depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, and crisis intervention.
- Experience and effectiveness as a clinical supervisor of mental health professionals. Demonstrated ability to give constructive feedback and promote professional development of clinical staff.
- Expertise in short-term therapy and knowledge of campus-based mental health systems.
- Proficiency and commitment to diversity and inclusion, with a clear ability to be an effective partner with diverse students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Excellent self-motivation, written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Excellent oral communication skills and ability to conduct effective presentations for students and focused clinical training to therapists.
- Proficient in computer programs including Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and the Internet.
- Ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems and initiate and implement projects independently.
- Experience with documentation, FERPA, Title IX and ability to be trusted with and promote client/student confidentiality.
- Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon.
- Experience working in higher education.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals including students from first generational, diverse, and urban environments.
