Compensation for this role:
Starting Pay: $22-$25 per hour, depending upon experience
Additional Pay Opportunities:

  • Bilingual Pay Differential — additional $3 per hour pay premium for employees who utilize a
qualifying second language in the workplace, applicable to all hours worked.

Position Status: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm; this position has some scheduling flexibility and
hybrid work from home options.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR –
YWCA Spokane’s Domestic Violence Housing Program seeks a responsible individual to serve as a Mobile
Housing Advocate. Primary job duties are to provide Housing Advocacy and safety planning to survivors that
have been referred to us.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING –
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential
functions. The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide mobile advocacy to survivors that identify a housing need. This includes systems advocacy, DV
education, safety planning, crisis intervention, resource referral and goal setting.
  • Perform advocacy for survivors that will be empowering and apply the diversion first model. This ensures
that survivors are able to utilize all of the safe resource options available to them before financial
interventions are offered. All financial interventions will be offered using progressive engagement.
  • Request, receive and process applications for relocation/prevention/rehousing in an efficient and timely
manner. Ensuring that the applicant is eligible for the service requested and communicating a clear time
line for the process.
  • Provide on-going housing advocacy for any survivor whom identifies as needing assistance with the
housing program. Triages and assesses the frequency and urgency of client’s need for on-going advocacy
and safety planning.
  • Complete housing stability plans on a monthly basis. Complete income verifications if survivor is in
services over 90 days and every 90 days after.
  • Maintain client files and track records in accordance with the YWCA policies and standards.
  • Communicate with local landlords, housing programs, and other community partners on what housing
and other resources the YWCA has as well as what available units and/or resources they have available.
  • Attend appropriate community meetings related to housing, education, and keep a good working
knowledge of housing options for survivors of DV.
  • Assist survivors in getting on the YWCA section 8 waitlist and assist them with processing their application.
  • Facilitate responsible renters which is offered on a monthly basis at both the shelter and at the main
YWCA on rotation with other trained advocates.
  • Attend walk in housing hours on rotation with other housing advocates.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE POSITION -

Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in a social science or related field, OR equivalent combination of education and experience

preferred.
  • Domestic violence and/or advocacy experience strongly desired.
  • Experience in coordinated housing systems strongly desired.
  • Must maintain 20 hours of on-going training in DV issues annually.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle insurance, as well as meet the standards
applicable to the YWCA Spokane Driver Policy.
