Compensation refers to the total monetary and non-monetary benefits provided to employees in exchange for their work. Compensation encompasses all forms of financial returns and tangible services and benefits employees receive as part of an employment relationship. This includes not only direct payments like salaries and wages but also indirect benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, bonuses, and other perks. The goal of compensation is to attract, motivate, and retain employees by providing them with fair and competitive rewards for their contributions to the organization. In essence, compensation is the comprehensive package of financial and non-financial rewards given to employees in return for their labor. It includes direct payments such as wages and salaries, as well as indirect benefits like health insurance, retirement savings plans, bonuses, and other incentives. The primary objective of compensation is to attract, motivate, and retain talent by ensuring that employees feel adequately rewarded for their efforts and contributions to the company.
