Software & Networking

Founded in 1983 as a California corporation, Analytic originally provided consulting and software development services in management and business applications, with a major emphasis on developing customized business accounting and financial planning systems for venture-funded high tech Silicon Valley firms. As an indirect result of the founder's software development for companies such as ASK, Electronic Arts and Quantum and his role in city government, in 1987, Richard Wilmuth helped Analytic obtain its first school district client, the initial project being the evaluation of its various custom-designed financial systems. This led to significant improvements in their budget development, financial systems and business processes. Of particular note, Analytic's services helped three large school districts restore financial health from severe crisis, resulting in their DOS-based budget development and salary projection software system used by more than 50 school districts in California. In conjunction with supporting school district budgeting software, and largely due to Wilmuth's extensive education from Berkeley and Stanford and from his background in modeling and simulation, he provided consulting services in the areas of multi-year budget development, financial analysis, labor negotiations and staffing management. Richard is now a well-known expert in school district financial planning and administration. Subsequent to Microsoft's 1998 declaration that "DOS was dead" and resulting elimination of DOS-based software support, Analytic began research and development on an innovative new network-based system for school budget development and human resources. Launched in May, 2003 and delivered via Software as the Service (SaaS) solution on an annual subscription basis. Analytic continues to advance SaaS technology as the most cost-effective ERP system to school districts.

What Skills Does a person Need at Analytic?

At Analytic, specify the abilities and skills that a person needs in order to carry out the specified job duties. Each competency has five to ten behavioral assertions that can be observed, each with a corresponding performance level (from one to five) that is required for a particular job.

  1. Leadership: Knowledge of and ability to employ effective strategies that motivate and guide other members within our business to achieve optimum results.
  2. Customer Service: Customer service is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase. The perception of success of such interactions is dependent on employees "who can adjust themselves to the personality of the guest". Customer service concerns the priority an organization assigns to customer service relative to components such as product innovation and pricing. In this sense, an organization that values good customer service may spend more money in training employees than the average organization or may proactively interview customers for feedback. From the point of view of an overall sales process engineering effort, customer service plays an important role in an organization's ability to generate income and revenue. From that perspective, customer service should be included as part of an overall approach to systematic improvement. One good customer service experience can change the entire perception a customer holds towards the organization.
  3. Coaching: Coaching is a form of development in which an experienced person, called a coach, supports a learner or client in achieving a specific personal or professional goal by providing training and guidance.
  4. Planning: An act or process of making or carrying out plans. Establishment of goals, policies, and procedures for a social or economic unit city planning business planning.
  5. Initiative: Taking decisive action and initiating plans independently to address problems, improve professional life, and achieve goals.

About Column For companies building financial technology and transforming the financial services space, the biggest bottleneck to their growth and innovation is often the underlying banks and infrastructure stack they rely on. We have spent our careers founding and scaling companies like Plaid, Square, SoFi, Blend, and Affirm, and have seen this problem firsthand - builders and developers needing to partner with traditional banks, and creating API and abstraction layers over the patchwork that is the bank, its core, and many other vendors. All of this results in a complex (and often expensive) banking supply chain involving a user, fintech, BaaS middleware provider, bank, core and the Federal Reserve. At Column, we set out to simplify and fix this. We are a bank and a software company built from the ground up, offering builders and developers technology-forward banking solutions that cut out the hundreds of vendors, middleware providers, and abstraction layers.
