Dr. Barbara Morrison-Rodriguez is President and CEO of BMR Consulting, LLC which she established in 2001. She provides consulting in the areas of program evaluation, results-based accountability, grant review, strategic planning, and board development. In this capacity she has conducted program evaluations, provided program evaluation training, and engaged in other capacity building for over 800 non-profit organizations in her 15 years as a consultant. Her clients are primarily non-profit organizations and foundations in the Southeastern United States, as well as Federal agencies such as the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and the Office of Minority Health (OMH) and their grantee programs. She earned her MA and PhD degrees in Social Welfare Research from the Columbia University School of Social Work in New York City and her BA in Sociology from Douglass College, Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. In her 40 year career, she has been on the faculty of five universities, including Hunter College (City University of New York), the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine (NYC), State University of New York (Albany, NY), the University of South Carolina (Columbia, SC) where she held The I. DeQuincey Newman Endowed Chair in Social Welfare and Co-Directed the Institute on Black Families with Dr Andrew Billingsley, and finally the University of South Florida (Tampa, FL) where she was Associate Dean of the Florida Mental Health Institute ( FMHI). In her career as a civil servant she served as Director of Long Term Care for the New York State Office for Aging and Associate Commissioner for Long Term Care and Geriatrics for the New York State Office of Mental Health. She co-authored a text book on research methods and has published several articles in the areas of aging, child welfare, mental health and substance abuse, and services research for racial and ethnic minority populations.
