was born in February 2009. For the previous five years, Id been working at Caterpillar Inc. as executive speechwriter and communications manager. It was just about the perfect job for mein addition to drafting speeches and presentations for our top executives, I also was able to create and manage a corporate speakers bureau, lead campaigns on subjects ranging I knew someday I wanted to venture out on my own, however, and when the economy took a turn for the worse in 2008, Caterpillar offered a voluntary separation plan to employees. The financial package was appealingso I took the plunge and formed Brown Ink. A little more about me: Before Caterpillar, I spent eight years at a small communications firm it. Our clients ranged from local nonprofits to Fortune 50 companies. Because of our small staff, I spent a lot of time on the research, strategy and communications planning side of projects as well. I lost count at about the 250th interview I conductedbut gained some great experience in market research, communications strategy and report writing. The scope of internal auditing within an organization is broad and may involve topics such as an organization's governance, risk management and management controls over: efficiency/effectiveness of operations (including safeguarding of assets), the reliability of financial and management reporting, and compliance with laws and regulations. Internal auditing may also involve conducting proactive fraud audits to identify potentially fraudulent acts; participating in fraud investigations under the direction of fraud investigation professionals, and conducting post investigation fraud audits to identify control breakdowns and establish financial loss.
