The Community Charter School is a school whose classroom is the community; a partnership of parents, teachers, students and community resources who share a vision of hope for our school and our city. Our vision is focused on a child-centered philosophy that enhances and supports a child's total development (social, emotional, physical, and intellectual) in the context of family and community. In the spring of 1996, the North Carolina Legislature passed a bill authorizing the creation of charter schools. Charter schools are public schools operating as a semi-autonomous school of choice and reporting directly to the State Board of Education. All charter schools are non-sectarian, open to all state residents, and publicly funded.

Each competency has five to ten behavioral assertions that can be observed, each with a corresponding performance level (from one to five) that is required for a particular job.

  1. Customer Service: Customer service is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase. The perception of success of such interactions is dependent on employees "who can adjust themselves to the personality of the guest". Customer service concerns the priority an organization assigns to customer service relative to components such as product innovation and pricing. In this sense, an organization that values good customer service may spend more money in training employees than the average organization or may proactively interview customers for feedback. From the point of view of an overall sales process engineering effort, customer service plays an important role in an organization's ability to generate income and revenue. From that perspective, customer service should be included as part of an overall approach to systematic improvement. One good customer service experience can change the entire perception a customer holds towards the organization.
  2. Leadership: Knowledge of and ability to employ effective strategies that motivate and guide other members within our business to achieve optimum results.
  3. Initiative: Taking decisive action and initiating plans independently to address problems, improve professional life, and achieve goals.
  4. Promotion: Developing and implementing promotional activities to attract and increase the awareness of customers in buying products.
  5. Planning: An act or process of making or carrying out plans. Establishment of goals, policies, and procedures for a social or economic unit city planning business planning.
