Conway Elementary School began in 1875 as Prospect School, which originally was the church-affiliated school of Prospect Methodist-Episcopal Church (now Conway United Methodist Church). The Conway area was known as "Prospect" in the md-1800s. In 1997 the school board granted a petition to open school #3 at Prospect. The name Conway first appeared in 1884, when the school was located on Conway Road
