Deck For a Soldier® is a program in which DeckRemodelers.com of Sparta, NJ is very proud to support. The New Jersey Chapter of the North American Deck and Railing Association N.A.D.R.A. recently announced the official plans for this their latest project. Sergeant O' Connor and family of Brick, NJ will be the recipients of the 2013 Deck for a Soldier. The NJ Chapter will be building the O'Connor's deck this fall. This nonprofit organization pair's private builders and vendors who want to make a difference, in gratitude, to our military families. Local N.A.D.R.A. member volunteers will complete construction, and member vendors will provide the materials and products all free of charge to the recipient. A ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration will be held when the project is completed. Member Sean McAleer of DeckRemodelers.com will be sending his senior build crew led by John Lintott. John will travel to Brick along with Tom Burke and Craig Nee. These employees from DeckRemodelers.com will happily join in the effort. Many have roots in the shore area and this effort is seen as a way to give back. Sergeant Sean O' Connor from Brick NJ has served our country for 20 years in the Marines and Army National Guard. Sergeant O'Connor completed 3 combat tours. He served in Desert Storm and retired as a decorated Sergeant First Class. He also served as an instructor at Fort Dix. The committee chair this year is Gustavo DelaCruz of Barrett Outdoors in Millstone Township, NJ. The deck will be built with the help of Committee members Bruce Verblaauw, Robert Lascelle, Jennifer Sheridan and Mike Schwartz. All members represent construction companies and vendors here in NJ. The annual Deck For a Soldier® event was founded by the North American Deck and Railing Association N.A.D.R.A in 2007, and is a community effort that expresses appreciation for the service and dedication of the men and women of our armed forces.
