Dutoit Europe B.V. originates from 3rd August 1919 and started with the production and auctioneering of local apples, pears and cherries. The company was founded by Nicolaas de Jong in a barn alongside the municipality-office in Bunnik. The second generation, Christiaan de Jong, moved the company to "de Schoudermantel" in Bunnik, alongside the railway, where a period of consolidation took place. The third generation, Nico de Jong, started with importing and exporting fruit. Imports came initially from European countries (mainly France), whereafter the Southern Hemisphere followed. Since the 1980's the company is managed by the fourth generation. In the year 2000 the company moved to their current location in Rotterdam, as it wanted to be close to the fruitport in order to be cost-effective.
