About Edwin Gil: Born December 11, 1971 in Itagui, Colombia, Edwin Gil is a contemporary conceptual artist best known for his vibrant colors and proprietary paint technique used to achieve depth and movement in his works. Gil combines his post-graduate studies in Psychology, as well as knowledge gained by working with great Colombian artistic masters like Hector Favio Castaño and Jorge Botero Lujan, to find meaning in the ordinary. In doing so, he has developed three fundamentals for painting - for fun, for love, for life - that can be seen throughout his work. After moving to the U.S. in 2000 and a short stint in Miami, Gil established himself in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he became the principal focus of Hispanic art. About Faces of Diversity: Faces of Diversity helps promote diversity and multicultural awareness through hands on art activities and thoughtful conversation. It reaffirms a sense of unity and connection among diverse groups by demonstrating how our differences should be respected and celebrated. Contemporary, conceptual artist, Edwin Gil, shares his personal story of triumph over tragedy, leads workshops, and creates a large 8' X 8' piece of artwork using participant thumbprints.
