Griner Engineering was founded in 1968 as Best & Associates by Barney P. Best. Best & Associates was primarily an electrical engineering firm until 1970. At that time, Mr. Best was joined by Karl Hickman to form Best Hickman & Associates. Best Hickman & Associates quickly grew to one of the largest mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering firms in the Tampa Bay Area. The firm specialized in health care and educational facility design, with offices in Tampa and St. Petersburg. In 1989, Joseph H. Griner III joined Mr. Best to form Best Griner & Associates Engineers, Inc. Barney Best retired in 1997 and the firm's name was changed to Griner Engineering, Inc. in 2004. Since then the firm has grown and developed successful projects all across the United States and overseas. Griner Engineering has grown into one of the best-known full-service engineering firms in St. Petersburg, Florida.
