Job Description: Position Overview: Performs various chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Applies techniques used in the field of blood banking, hematology, serology, chemistry and morphological examinations. Records test results, quality control, and remedial action. Must be able to prioritize tasks rapidly and perform phlebotomy as needed. Essential Functions: a) Responsible for performance of laboratory procedures and reporting of test results; monitoring test analysis and specimen examinations. b) Responsible for careful handling of chemicals and infectious material to protect all laboratory personnel: collection of blood and other specimens under aseptic conditions. c) Responsible for care of expensive scientific laboratory and judicious use of materials. Qualifications & Skills: Education: Associate Degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory or equivalent education and training.

Performs, interprets and correlates clinical laboratory tests, procedures and associated tasks in all disciplines of the Clinical Laboratory, by following protocols to assist in diagnosis, treatment and monitoring. performs quality control and quality assurance procedures; performs equipment/instruments checks and maintains appropriate records. Expected to utilize complex problem solving skills in resolving clinical and instrument problems. MLT - AA in Medical Laboratory Technology or appropriate science program from an accredited college or university, or equivalent. Registered or registry eligible as a MLT/MT by A.S.C.P MT - Bachelor degree in Medical Technology or an appropriate science program from an accredited college or university, or equivalent.
