Joyful Noise currently operates four employer sponsored, on-site child development centers in the Portland metropolitan area. Beginning in 1989 with the downtown Joyful Noise Child Development Center, the non-profit corporation has expanded, through the Request for Proposal process, to include centers utilized by several Portland municipalities. MetroKids Child Development Center opened in 1994, CityKids CDC in October of 2000, and our latest center, Joyful Noise CDC-Eastside, opened in August of 2005. From its inception, Joyful Noise has been a regional leader in providing quality early childhood education programs to children. Our centers have been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and continuously seek to renew their accreditation status as it expires. Programs seeking accreditation undergo an intensive self-study and an on-site visit followed by an independent review by national experts. The process carefully considers all aspects of a program including interactions between teachers and children, health, safety, staffing qualification and physical environment. Each center is licensed by the State of Oregon, Employment Department, Child Care Division. A certification specialist has access to each Center at all times to review for compliance with State Child Care Regulations. A formal review, as well as spontaneous visits, is conducted annually. As we continue to evolve and grow, foremost in our mission is a commitment to provide a high quality program for young children and their families. Our ultimate goal is to convey significant, positive and lasting benefits to the life of a child.
