Nature Coast EMS is contracted by Citrus County and is the sole provider of emergency medical services. Citrus County is considered rural and recognized as an underserved area of uninsured and underinsured residents. In this economic downturn Nature Coast EMS finds ourselves providing primary health care in non-emergency situations. In 2013, Nature Coast EMS responded to 21,869 calls and wrote off $227,128 in uncompensated care for Citrus County residents bringing the total to $3,846,622 since 2000. Uncompensated care, contractual discounts and write-down amounts would have been-otherwise borne by county and city taxpayers. Nature Coast EMS has consistently reduced county dollars by seeking outside sources of revenue in addition to grants, to build on our financial stability and enhance our services to the community and in 2013, the organization reduced the county subside by 56.09 percent. Currently our operating budget is 95.1 percent of user fees and 4.9 percent subsidy from the county. In addition to supporting various charitable organizations throughout Citrus County like the Key Training Center and Habitat for Humanity, some of our team members are members of four different Citrus County Rotary Clubs, and the Kiwanis Club of Citrus County. Mike Hall, CEO and President is also on the board of directors for United Way of Citrus County and Katie Lucas is on the Board of Governors of United Way of Florida. Part of Nature Coast EMS on boarding process with new hires includes them serving community service hours for local nonprofit agencies.

What Skills Does a person Need at Nature Coast Ems?

At Nature Coast Ems, specify the abilities and skills that a person needs in order to carry out the specified job duties. Each competency has five to ten behavioral assertions that can be observed, each with a corresponding performance level (from one to five) that is required for a particular job.

  1. Medical Emergency: A medical emergency is an acute injury or illness that poses an immediate risk to a person's life or long-term health, sometimes referred to as a situation risking "life or limb".
  2. Patient Care: Patient care refers to the prevention, treatment, and management of illness and the preservation of physical and mental well-being through services offered by health professionals.
  3. Customer Service: Customer service is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase. The perception of success of such interactions is dependent on employees "who can adjust themselves to the personality of the guest". Customer service concerns the priority an organization assigns to customer service relative to components such as product innovation and pricing. In this sense, an organization that values good customer service may spend more money in training employees than the average organization or may proactively interview customers for feedback. From the point of view of an overall sales process engineering effort, customer service plays an important role in an organization's ability to generate income and revenue. From that perspective, customer service should be included as part of an overall approach to systematic improvement. One good customer service experience can change the entire perception a customer holds towards the organization.
  4. CPR: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) combines rescue breathing (mouth-to-mouth) and chest compressions to temporarily pump enough blood to the brain until specialized treatment is available.
  5. Troubleshooting: Troubleshooting is a form of problem solving, often applied to repair failed products or processes on a machine or a system. It is a logical, systematic search for the source of a problem in order to solve it, and make the product or process operational again. Troubleshooting is needed to identify the symptoms. Determining the most likely cause is a process of elimination—eliminating potential causes of a problem. Finally, troubleshooting requires confirmation that the solution restores the product or process to its working state. In general, troubleshooting is the identification or diagnosis of "trouble" in the management flow of a system caused by a failure of some kind. The problem is initially described as symptoms of malfunction, and troubleshooting is the process of determining and remedying the causes of these symptoms. A system can be described in terms of its expected, desired or intended behavior (usually, for artificial systems, its purpose). Events or inputs to the system are expected to generate specific results or outputs. (For example, selecting the "print" option from various computer applications is intended to result in a hardcopy emerging from some specific device). Any unexpected or undesirable behavior is a symptom. Troubleshooting is the process of isolating the specific cause or causes of the symptom. Frequently the symptom is a failure of the product or process to produce any results. (Nothing was printed, for example). Corrective action can then be taken to prevent further failures of a similar kind.
