General Summary of PositionPerforms technical duties related to drug distribution and dispensing as a member of the pharmaceutical team to improve the outcome and quality of patient care, under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Prepares all medications, including narcotics, for dispensing, which includes drug selection, labeling, and packaging. Enters medication orders in the computer system, evaluating/editing patient data, checking for drug allergies and duplications, calculating dosage conversions, and determining the number of doses/dosage forms needed. Picks up medication orders from the patient care area at scheduled times. Delivers filled orders to assigned nursing units and departments as scheduled. Job Description Licensed in Maryland with PTCB certification. Must have worked with Talyst, pyxis ES and EPIC dispense prep. Must have IV preparation skills for various medications. The shift is rotational shift with at least two shifts (Monday and Tuesday) being nights (11p-7am) and the other shifts being rotational between (7-3p and 3-11p). Will work every other weekend.
