In 1975, Super Holiday Tours was started by Mr. Elmer Cook. At that time, there were no other student travel companies based in Central Florida. Continuing through the 70s and 1980s, Super Holiday Tours developed several programs for high school bands, choirs, and orchestras traveling to Orlando. The Spring Festival series consisted of the Orange Blossom Music Festival, The Great American Concert Band Contest, and the Super Holiday Music Festival. In 1980, Super Holiday Tours "teamed" up with Florida Citrus Sports to produce the Tangerine Bowl Parade, which ran in conjunction with the College Bowl game, by the same name. In 1991, Bryan Cole purchased the company from Elmer. The 90s brought a time of tremendous growth for Super Holiday Tours including the creation of MUSICFEST ORLANDO, the development of promoting travel destinations throughout the United States and Canada and the evolution and growth of the "Tangerine Bowl Parade," which is now known as the Orlando Citrus Parade. The 90s and early 2000s resulted in growth for Super Holiday Tours, they also saw the formation and development of a professional trade association geared specifically for those in the Student and Youth Travel Industry. Bryan became actively involved in the Student Youth Travel Association (SYTA) to the point that he served as its Fifth President from October 2001 - September 2002. His involvement continued in 2005 when he was appointed to Chair the SYTA Youth Foundation. As Bryan was completing his leadership roles with the association, it was time for other members of Super Holiday Tours to become more active in the industry. Bob Markle was elected to the SYTA Board of Directors in 2006 to serve a two-year term, and then was appointed to a one-year term in 2008. Livy Roché recently has assumed a roll with the Professional Development Committee for SYTA. Our involvement in SYTA ensures our practices are consistent with the highest industry standards.
