Syracuse City provides irrigation water service to its residents. All homes in newer subdivisions have access to secondary water, as connection and impact fees have previously been paid on building permits. City ordinance 4-05-010 prohibits irrigating areas larger than one acre. A City owned secondary water valve is usually placed in the park-strip in close proximity to the property line. This valve is provided as a point of connection for the customer. However, each resident must provide their own valve to operate their system by. Additionally we recommend that users supply a filtering system in close proximity and downstream of their shut off valve. Tampering with any City owned utility is strictly prohibited. The secondary water lines are typically filled by the end of April, and winterized the end of September.
