The Grower Assistant will interact daily with the Horticulture and Facilities team while also working and collaborating with all other departments. The Grower Assistant will also engage with volunteers and the public to support the institution’s guiding mission of sparking a passion for plants and gardening through accessible science and inspiring beauty. Job Responsibilities: · Under direction of the Nursery and Greenhouse Manager, water, fertilize, weed and organize plants in the nursery as needed · Propagate plants by seed, cutting and root division while monitoring nursery plants for pest/disease problems · Assist with upkeep and repair of nursery and greenhouse facilities and equipment · Care for sale plants located at the Yew Dell Visitor Center including inventory, watering, presentation and rotating

As part of the month end closing process, this individual will be responsible for entering journal entries into the general ledger and reconciling accounts after the period has been closed. The candidate will assist with the centralized accounting functions for Churchill Downs Incorporated subsidiaries and joint ventures. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Master's and / or CPA preferred. A minimum of 1-3 years' experience in public accounting, or experience in corporate accounting for a publicly traded company. Knowledge of accounting procedures and principles (U.S. GAAP). Experience with month-end closing processes, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
