The fair board over the years has been blessed to work with such an amazing and supportive community. The focus of our fair has always been on our youth, our 4-H and FFA members have played a big role in the growth and continued success of our fair. Come to the Worth County Fair in mid-June and you will see 4-H buildings full of projects, multiple livestock shows going on per day, amazing homemade food prepared in our 4-H food stand along with other entertainment and attractions. Over the past 138 years we have had many updates and additions to our buildings and grounds. Some of the most recent updates have been a renovation to our grandstand, and our food stand went from two small serving buildings to one larger building with seating, all under one roof. This past year we were blessed with a new Fair Office Building; the building includes our fair office, a Community Room, which is used for meetings and events and offices for ISU Extension and Outreach of Worth County, this building will also be used as a storm shelter. Our grounds include camping spots, walking trail and many other attractions that are used all summer long. The improvements to our beautiful grounds would not be possible with out the generous private and business donations along with contributions from Worth County Development Authority. The WCDA is a non-profit arm of Diamond Jo Casino. It recieves 5.76 percent of casino revenue and oversees it distribution. Countless volunteer hours by Worth County residents, groups and business are put in each year to make our Fair a success and our grounds beautiful. The Worth County Fair board is grateful. What Skills Does a person Need at Worth County Fair?

At Worth County Fair, specify the abilities and skills that a person needs in order to carry out the specified job duties. Each competency has five to ten behavioral assertions that can be observed, each with a corresponding performance level (from one to five) that is required for a particular job.

  1. Plumbing: Plumbing is any system that conveys fluids for a wide range of applications. Plumbing uses pipes, valves, plumbing fixtures, tanks, and other apparatuses to convey fluids. Heating and cooling (HVAC), waste removal, and potable water delivery are among the most common uses for plumbing, but it is not limited to these applications. The word derives from the Latin for lead, plumbum, as the first effective pipes used in the Roman era were lead pipes. In the developed world, plumbing infrastructure is critical to public health and sanitation. Boilermakers and pipefitters are not plumbers although they work with piping as part of their trade and their work can include some plumbing.
  2. HVAC: Designing, developing, maintaining, and updating Heating, Ventilation, Air-conditioning and Cooling system.
  3. Carpentry: Carpentry is a skilled trade and a craft in which the primary work performed is the cutting, shaping and installation of building materials during the construction of buildings, ships, timber bridges, concrete formwork, etc. Carpenters traditionally worked with natural wood and did the rougher work such as framing, but today many other materials are also used and sometimes the finer trades of cabinetmaking and furniture building are considered carpentry. In the United States, 98.5% of carpenters are male, and it was the fourth most male-dominated occupation in the country in 1999. In 2006 in the United States, there were about 1.5 million carpentry positions. Carpenters are usually the first tradesmen on a job and the last to leave. Carpenters normally framed post-and-beam buildings until the end of the 19th century; now this old fashioned carpentry is called timber framing. Carpenters learn this trade by being employed through an apprenticeship training—normally 4 years—and qualify by successfully completing that country's competence test in places such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia and South Africa. It is also common that the skill can be learned by gaining work experience other than a formal training program, which may be the case in many places.
  4. Painting: Painting is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a solid surface (called the "matrix" or "support"). The medium is commonly applied to the base with a brush, but other implements, such as knives, sponges, and airbrushes, can be used. The final work is also called a painting. Painting is an important form in the visual arts, bringing in elements such as drawing, gesture (as in gestural painting), composition, narration (as in narrative art), or abstraction (as in abstract art). Paintings can be naturalistic and representational (as in a still life or landscape painting), photographic, abstract, narrative, symbolistic (as in Symbolist art), emotive (as in Expressionism), or political in nature (as in Artivism). A portion of the history of painting in both Eastern and Western art is dominated by religious art. Examples of this kind of painting range from artwork depicting mythological figures on pottery, to Biblical scenes Sistine Chapel ceiling, to scenes from the life of Buddha or other images of Eastern religious origin.
  5. preventative maintenance: Developing and implementing maintenance strategies to increase equipment life expectancy and avoid unplanned downtime.
