Job Description - Accountant

Job Summary:

The accountant will provide a variety of accounting services to our clients, including creating monthly financial statements, preparing tax returns, completing audits, and other related financial activities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prepare corporate, partnership, trust/estate, nonprofit, and personal income tax returns.
• Advise business owners and individuals regarding the tax code.
• Process state and federal payroll taxes.
• Develop audit objectives, plans, and scope by reviewing available information and conducting research.
• Prepare audit findings, write audit reports, and develop recommendations.
• Stay current on industry trends, and best accounting and audit practices.
• Ensure accuracy of financial information.
• Follow up on audit recommendations.
• Travel to client sites for fieldwork and business consultation.
• Always stay current with all state and federal regulations.
• Maintain constant communication with the IRS, State Agencies, and our clients.
• Keep highly organized and updated client files.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities:

• Strong understanding of accounting pronouncements, income tax laws, regulations, and internal controls.
• Sound understanding of audit and tax theories, principles, and practices.
• Familiarity with general accounting practices and techniques.
• Strong interpersonal skills, critical thinking skills, and time management skills.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative environment, as well as working independently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Highly proficient with accounting software.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. CPA preferred. Studying for CPA is considered.
• One to seven years’ experience in financial accounting, auditing, or a combination thereof, preferably in public accounting. We will consider recent graduates.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
