Aerospace Engineer researches and develops structural engineering specifications for aerospace products, parts, or associated operations to improve the efficiency and reliability of aerospace systems. Analyzes results of stress tests on various craft and missile parts to determine material durability and tolerances. Being an Aerospace Engineer oversees flight tests of prototypes and analyzes resulting data to validate flight characteristics and identify necessary improvements. Conducts calculations and utilizes simulations to evaluate aerodynamics, structural integrity, propulsion efficiency, and the effect on fuel consumption of new or existing materials. Additionally, Aerospace Engineer utilizes CAE, 3-D, and digital modeling to create detailed plans and specifications to support production. Assists quality assurance and purchasing teams with the evaluation of new or existing suppliers, products and materials, or technologies. Understands and complies with all federal regulatory requirements and specifications. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Aerospace Engineer work is closely managed.   • The Role -

    Amphenol Military High Speed is seeking a Field Applications Engineer (Fiber Optic) to work out of its state-of-the-art facility in Sidney, NY or Mesa, AZ.

    The Field Applications Engineer (Fiber Optic) will support and enable the success of a product line by providing technical support to global customers and field sales personnel, while also responding to incoming customer inquiries for information about a specific product line; and design new or modify existing electrical and specialty power solutions and products on currently active and future connector/power contract applications.

    The key responsibilities of the Field Applications Engineer (Fiber Optic) include, but are not limited to:

    • Drive adoption, design-ins, and specifications for product line
    • Respond to incoming customer inquiries for a specific product line
    • Keep the Marketing Team aware of product enhancements for marketing purposes
    • Assumes Program Manager responsibilities for key programs and accounts
    • Help improve customer delivery and lead time through completion of drawings, specs at initiation of design
    • Interfaces with other departments for the manufacturing and testing of samples
    • Interfaces with customers and vendors to assume conformance to customer specifications
    • Should have the ability to work with CAD and ProE applications for design
    • Must be able to read drawings and 3D files
    • Ability to communicate conceptual designs to production and customers
    • Coordinate the manufacturing of customer prototypes
    • Review customer documents for compliance with AIO requirements and if necessary, prepare new designs to conform to these documents
    • Keep supervision informed of status of all activities on a periodic basis
    • Must be capable of assuring form, fit, and function of components through preliminary dimensional studies, and correlate engineering data to customer specifications

    Salary: $61,500 - $85,000

    A hybrid work option may be available following an initial training/orientation period.

    The Person -

    The key skills and qualities of a Field Applications Engineer (Fiber Optic) at Amphenol Military High Speed:

    • B.S. degree in appropriate discipline or equivalent work experience with fiber optic connectors, cables, termini, etc.
    • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Must be able to provide pricing models for customers in conjunction with product management to achieve gross margin objectives
