Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Purchasing Lead to join our procurement team. The Purchasing Lead will play a key role in ensuring the timely procurement of products and consumables essential for our customers and operation. This position serves as an integral part of the day-to-day activity of the Purchasing team. This is a unique department within Surface Art as it is the epicenter of our source of revenue. This individual will work closely with vendors, internal stakeholders, and other team members in the purchasing team as well as other departments in the company to streamline purchasing processes and optimize supply chain efficiency. Accuracy, diligence, creativity, and an ability to cross-train with other team members to complete all necessary tasks are essential for success as the Purchasing Lead.
Essential Job Functions:
· Assists the purchasing department in producing, processing and updating all vendor partner purchase orders in a timely manner.
· Communicates with all vendors to obtain needed information for stock keeping unit (SKU) creation using a standardized format throughout the entire process.
· Manages the product lifecycle of all items and effectively communicates this with executive team and other team members through monthly reporting system.
· Identifies snags and other issues in our supply chain, communicates these to executive team along with solutions
· Works closely with costumer service team members and responds to inquiries, concerns, and requests for information, providing exemplary service and resolving issues to the customer's satisfaction.
· Communicates clearly to supervisor or other team members for any process improvement opportunities.
· Establishes and maintains strong relationships with freight partners, including carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers, to ensure reliable and cost-effective transportation solutions.
· Coordinates with freight partners to schedule pickups, arrange deliveries, and optimize shipping routes to minimize transit times and reduce costs.
Departmental Essential Function:
· Completely understands the methodology for solving problems using Surface Art’s 5 Avenues for solving problems- Environmental, Systematic, Technological, Personnel, Training
Other Skills/Abilities/Requirements:
· Moderately advanced use of the Microsoft Suite ( Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook )
· Understanding of supply/demand and saw tooth supply chain cycles.
· Follows all existing company policies and procedures.
· Demonstrates the ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions and solve problems immediately and independently.
· Shows the ability to work well with others and meet deadlines under pressure.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree or work equivalent in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
