GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Pastry Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef to develop dessert menus, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation, and inspiring the pastry team.
The ideal candidate will possess a passion for pastry arts, a creative flair, and strong leadership skills to drive excellence in pastry production.
As a hands-on member of the Management team, this person will ensure all aspects of the restaurant are running smoothly and efficiently to deliver genuine hospitality.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and execute seasonal dessert menus and pastry offerings that showcase the restaurant'
s culinary vision and reflect current pastry trends and techniques
Lead and mentor all back-of-house employees, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence
Manage the recruitment, training, and development of pastry personnel
Oversee all aspects of pastry production, including recipe development, baking, decorating, and plating, to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to standards
Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and control costs to meet budgetary goals while minimizing waste and maintaining quality
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards at all times
Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure seamless coordination between savory and sweet offerings, as well as accommodate special requests and dietary restrictions
Contribute to the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance efficiency and consistency in pastry production
Stay updated on current pastry trends, techniques, and ingredients to continually innovate and elevate the restaurant's pastry offerings
Actively participate in tastings and special events to promote the restaurant's pastry program and enhance guest experiences

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or Pastry Sous Chef in a high-end, fine dining restaurant
Culinary degree or equivalent certification from a recognized culinary institution, with a focus on pastry arts preferred
Proficiency in pastry techniques, including baking, decorating, and plating, as well as a solid understanding of pastry fundamentals
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic pastry kitchen environment
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, and mentor staff
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
