Business Development Supervisor identifies, evaluates, and pursues business opportunities with partners or potential customers. Coordinates and negotiates with other departments to implement marketing initiatives. Being a Business Development Supervisor is responsible for maintaining close relationship with existing clients. Acquires new customers, retains and expands existing customer relationships. Additionally, Business Development Supervisor develops sales of products and services by investigating and resolving customer problems, recommends modifications to the product/service line, and coordinates sales negotiations with appropriate personnel. Responsible for meeting sales volume and revenue goals and standards for activity, such as number of sales calls. Requires a bachelor's degree in business, finance or marketing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Business Development Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Business Development Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.   • Position Summary: 

    The Business Development Coordinator (“Coordinator”) is responsible for supporting various business development efforts and initiatives across corporate practices of the Firm. A successful candidate is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior client service to the Firm’s attorneys and business service professionals.

    The Coordinator will interact and communicate with the entire Marketing and Business Development Department, Firm partners and other attorneys, external vendors and service providers, and other business service professionals. The Coordinator will report to the Director of Business Development – Corporate.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Assist with the creation and maintenance of tailored materials for various business development opportunities including pitches, client presentations, attorney biographies, RFP’s and other client facing materials.
    • Research visibility and other relevant marketing opportunities such as speaking engagements and awards.
    • Assist in the analysis of peer firm research and client/industry background materials as needed to support strategic initiatives.
    • Provide support and coordinate all activities involved with sponsorships such as processing payments, providing logos, shipping booths and materials, setting up booths, and ordering give-away items.
    • Assist in the collection of matter experience for assigned practice groups for inclusion in the Firm’s databases.
    • Support the tracking and analysis of the Associate Business Development Program including tracking analysis and reporting of all Associate BD activities and spend.
    • Support key client and industry initiatives including but not limited to, relationship tracking, gifting, action item tracking, and target client news to support client and industry growth.
    • Update and maintain data integrity in databases including Foundation and InterAction, including account / contact records, data entry, pulling reports.
    • Budget administration, including Chrome River expense approvals, processing invoices, making budget reallocations, preparing budget summaries, data entry.
    • Department administration, including liaising on org chart updates, new hire onboarding, team huddle calendaring and agendas, department process documentation and updates.
    • Support business development team members on special projects as assigned/needed.

    Qualifications:

    Education: 4-year college degree required.

    Experience:  Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in marketing and/or business development within a medium to large professional services environment.

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Must work with strong intellectual curiosity and resourcefulness.
    • Must possess excellent editing and proofreading skills and rigorous attention to process and detail, with overall pride of workmanship.
    • Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment working under pressure and prioritizing competing responsibilities within tight deadlines without sacrificing quality.
    • Clearly demonstrates the ability to work effectively across various projects and assume new challenges.
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a variety of people and departments. Works collaboratively (“team-first mentality”) to ensure the best possible experience and results for our internal and external clients.
    • Develops clear, concise and well-structured written and verbal communications.
    • Clearly demonstrates good judgment and decision-making skills.
    • Demonstrates flexibility and ingenuity to respond to changing demands.
    • Maintains a “continuous improvement” mindset and motivates others on the team to innovate.
    • Must be highly skilled in MS Suite - Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with marketing-related databases preferred.
