Chemical Plant Operator controls equipment and systems that process chemical substances and materials into products. Operates equipment and monitors the production process to ensure efficient and safe output. Being a Chemical Plant Operator follows standard operating procedures and performs in process quality checks to identify and resolve issues during processing. Troubleshoots problems with equipment, respond to system notifications and makes required adjustments as needed. Additionally, Chemical Plant Operator enters required production data and information into logs. May unload or move materials. Follows all procedures for safe material handling and required safety gear. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Chemical Plant Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     Wage Scale for Position: $22.00-$28.00/hr DOE w/ potential for overtime.

    Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

    • The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    • Operate equipment safely and efficiently within its designed paramaters

    • Load trucks with proper materials for delivery

    • Fuel, oil, grease and check other necessary loader parts to ensure proper function of equipment

    • Maintains cleanliness of yard premises

    • Assist other departments with maintenance, operations, and/or other duties as assigned to meet business needs

    • Promptly communicate with supervisors on any flaws in material or equipment

    • Operates water truck, front end loader, skid steer and pick-up truck 

    • Demonstrates safe work habits and takes an active role in the Company’s safety program

    • Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions

    • Regular and timely attendance

    • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment

    • Safety sensitive position

    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

     

    Minimun Qualitfications:

    • Valid driver’s license required

    • Demonstrates good performance, safety, attendance, and punctuality

    • Demonstrates the ability to work in a safe manner as well as maintain a safe work environment

    • Demonstrates a positive attitude in a team environment

    • Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision    

    • Demonstrates the ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions

    • Demonstrates the willingness to learn and work a variety of job tasks

    • Demonstrates a willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed

    • Must pass physical exam and pre-employment-controlled substance testing

    • Safety sensitive: “Per RCW 49.44.240 this position has been identified by the employer as safety sensitive and will be subject to an employer-required pre-employment drug screening that includes testing for nonpsychoactive cannabis metabolites.”

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    •  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
