    PPCCC is a trusted provider of high-quality, affordable reproductive health care along California’s Central Coast. Each year, PPCCC provides 35,000 people on the central coast with health care services; including sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, birth control, breast and cervical cancer screenings, vasectomies, and safe and legal abortion care at our six health center locations. PPCCC also provides comprehensive sexuality education programs to help adults and teens make healthy decisions, prevent unintended pregnancies, and avoid sexually transmitted infection.

     


    Planned Parenthood California Central Coast (PPCCC) is searching for a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to oversee medical services and develop clinical care strategies as an integral member of the organization’s Senior Leadership Team. The CMO will report to the CEO.


    In collaboration with clinical operations, and administrative leaders the CMO will provide executive leadership for all medical services, overseeing quality, planning, and development of services in alignment with PPCCC mission and values. The CMO will provide leadership in the community by spearheading clinical partnerships and referrals and developing relationships within the medical community.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


    Leads the implementation of new programs and services to advance the organization's Health Equity vision.


    Acts as a role model to inspire, motivate, and coach medical team and health center staff to live the organization’s values.

     

    Advises the affiliate CEO and Board of Directors regarding matters of clinical nature. Attends and participates in Board meetings.

     

    Represents PPCCC at professional conferences, advisory groups and PPFA committees. Promotes Planned Parenthood programs to the community and health care professionals.

     

    Ensuring the delivery of quality patient care by providing leadership and direction for hiring, training, and monitoring process of licensed staff including contract providers.

     

    Responsible for the overall quality management of medical care delivered by PPCCC and its staff. This includes maintaining and ensuring implementation of medical policies and protocols in accordance with PPFA's Medical Standards and Guidelines. Participates in the Compliance, Risk and Quality Management program.

     

    Reviews all medical incident reports. Assures that all medical complications are handled in accordance with PPFA guidelines and accepted community standards. Ensures that all medical and procedural complications are managed according to appropriate medical standards.

     

    In collaboration with Risk and Quality Manager, prioritizes clinical quality improvement initiatives based on patient safety, effectiveness, efficiency, timely, equitable, and patient centered outcomes.

     

    Responsible for the policies and procedures pretraining to the handling of pharmaceuticals.

     

    Directs and supervises the medical aspects of affiliate programs. Including leading the development, and implementation of new medical programs and ensuring proper training of licensed and non licensed health care staff. Identifies need for, and provides training to medical staff based on protocol changes and trends identified by risk and quality management program.

     

    Oversees the privileging of providers, review medical records of patients cared for by each provider to ensure quality care.

     

    Provides medical consultation coverage to health care staff regarding the clinical management of patients and delegates responsibility when appropriate.

     

    Regularly provides medical services in both family planning and procedural health centers, including Planned Parenthood core services.

     

    Stays abreast of current research, innovation, evidence based medical practices, and ensures ongoing clinical training of staff.

     

    Provides medical oversight of clinical research and acts as the principal investigator as needed.

     

    Complies with PPCCC Code of Conduct, maintains the highest level of professional and ethical standards, and acts in compliance with law and regulations.

    EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:


    Medical degree and Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology required

    Fellowship training in Complex Family Planning preferred

    Minimum five (5) years of experience in full range medical gynecological care, including comprehensive contraception services

    Experience with first and second trimester abortions, colposcopy, and LEEP

    Minimum five (5) years of experience as practicing physician with demonstrated excellence in surgery preferred

    Planned Parenthood California Central Coast’s (PPCCC’s) compensation philosophy supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Each position has a salary based on market value and the organization’s pay levels.  The starting salary for this position is $323,821.06 with an opportunity for an increase after six months of employment.  As part of our commitment to pay equity, PPCCC does not negotiate salaries.
