Clinical Facilities Planning Manager manages professional services for assigned projects concerning design, construction, development, or installation of hospital buildings and facilities. Oversees all aspects of construction including progress, timing, costs and contracts. Being a Clinical Facilities Planning Manager directs construction, equipment installation, renovation and redesigning projects. Works with hospital departments to ensure design changes, equipment specifications/substitutions, purchasing and accounting procedures are in alignment with business objectives.     The Administrative and Business Services Division of Long Beach Community College (LBCC) is seeking a highly qualified candidate in the role of Associate Vice President, Capital Planning and Facilities. The Associate Vice President (AVP) is a senior-level management position responsible for capital planning and construction, Facilities services and associated administrative and business services for the District. Areas of responsibility include planning, design and construction, building operations and maintenance, grounds, custodial services, transportation, and warehouse operations. Additionally, the position oversees Event Services including filming and facilities use permit management and other assigned business operations and activities.

    Reporting to a Vice President, the AVP is required to develop and implement short and long-term plans to achieve the District's space management and facilities goals, standards of construction, and otherwise an optimal physical environment. The AVP will provide direct leadership for capital planning and construction as well as Facilities support services including associated purchasing, bidding, contracts administration, warehouse operations and inventory control. Provides expert consultation and support to District management and the Board of Trustees on all areas of oversight including other policy and planning matters; and performs related duties as assigned.

    AT-A-GLANCE POSITION INFORMATION 

    • Type of position: Full time (40 hours/week)
    • Position Status: Senior Management / Contract
    • Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm 
    • Location: Will support both campuses, but could be located at either the Liberal Arts Campus (LAC) or Pacific Coast Campus (PCC)
    • Salary: Range MGMT 17 $177,692 - $242,107 Annually 
    • Eligibility list: Will be valid for 6 months once approved or ratified by the Personnel Commission. We reserve the right to use the established eligibility list for vacancies (permanent and temporary) in this classification as well as related classifications 
    • Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

    Education, Training and Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, project management, business or a closely related field and eight (8) years of increasingly responsible relevant work experience with direct accountability for leading design and construction for large-scale projects, with at least three (3) of which were in a supervisory or management capacity; or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. Experience in an academic institution or public agency is preferred. Possession of a Master’s degree or general contractor’s license is preferred.

    Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
     Requires a valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District’s vehicle insurance policy.


     Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.
