Responsibilities
- Greet all office guests in a professional and friendly manner.
- Gather preliminary data through patient pretest, such as documenting chief complaints, gathering patient’s medical history, measuring visual acuity, interocular pressure (IOP), retinal photos, visual fields, and optical coherence tomography (OCT).
- Educate the patient throughout the prescreening process about what each instrument is testing for and provide instructions to capture accurate test results.
- Accurately and efficiently document the results of pretesting into the current electronic health records program.
- Collaborate with the optometric team to ensure optimal patient care and satisfaction.
· Reorder contact lens trials, place patient contact lens orders and call to follow-up with patients in contact lens trials
- Educate and instruct the patient on insertion, removal, and proper care of contact lenses, including specialty lenses.
- Assist the optometrist as needed during examinations.
- Assist the patient in making decisions about frames and lenses.
- Assist other members of the team when needed and available.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Prior experience in optometry or a related field is advantageous but not required. Training provided.
- Adaptable and flexible with the ability to multitask and willingness to learn.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Interest in healthcare
- Must present a professional appearance
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
