Position Description (primary functions):- Provides tutorial services in the areas of remedial reading and writing, mathematics, natural and social sciences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Maintains and upkeeps software and modules in the tutorial lab.
- Assists students in navigating tutorial software.
- Acts as a liaison between full-time and adjunct instructors, athletic personnel, and students and works under the instructor’s direction, if necessary, to assist students.
- Provides academic assistance to assigned students either in a group or individually.
- Maintains records on each student being tutored and reports progress to the director and referring instructor.
- Helps students to develop a positive attitude towards learning and studying.
- Helps students develop self-confidence and reduce anxiety or fear of failure in academic work.
- Assists students in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and in improving academic capabilities in designated areas.
- Helps students develop the study skills necessary for academic success.
- Assists in the coordination of data collection and assessment for reporting to appropriate offices.
- Assists in maintaining retention data, institutional effectiveness data, and all other IE processes in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
- Facilitates and develops all components of the Coahoma Male Program.
- Serves on department and campus committees and accepts committee assignments.
- Participates in campus activities and programs.
- Performs other duties set forth by the Director of Student Engagement, and the Director of Research, Assessment and Strategic Initiatives.
